Exterior

Styling

4Runner is lean and mean. Ready for any adventure. Sculpted lines with just the right cuts. The Headlamps, LED Rear Combination Lamps, Bumpers, Grille, Fog Lamps and Fender Flares accentuate 4Runner's fearless attitude from front to back.

Running Boards

Illuminated Running Boards on Limited models let you step up and brave the challenge of any off-road adventure, even if the sun calls it a day before you do.

Towing

Standard on all models, the Rear Towing Hitch comes with a 7-pin connector making it easy to hook up a trailer and hit the road. 4Runner never has to leave anything it doesn't want to behind.

Heated Mirrors

No matter what the weather, Heated Side Mirrors, standard on Limited models, and optional on the SR5 V6, help keep things clear and dry under the harshest conditions.

Alloy Wheels

Pristine pavement or rugged trails, 4Runner handles it all with sturdy 16-inch Aluminum Alloy Wheels with Wheel Locks on the SR5 V6. The V6 Sport Package rolls on 17-inch Aluminum Alloy Wheels, while the Limited models feature 18-inch Aluminum Alloys with Locks. Standard on all models, a Tire Pressure Monitor System for an added measure of security.

Seating

On the SR5 V6, 6-way adjustable Front Sport Seats and a Rear Bench come wrapped in a comfortable and durable fabric. The Sport Package features Two-Tone Premium Cloth with Power Driver Seat Adjustments, while the Limited boasts fine Leather Seats and an 8-way Power Adjustable Driver's Seat with Memory and Integrated Mirror Memory.

Cargo

With Fold-down Rear Seats, Side Storage Compartments, and a versatile Dual-Deck Cargo Area on Limited models, hauling your gear around is always a snap. Big or small, short or tall, 4Runner makes it a great fit.

Rear Door/Window

All models feature a Motor-assist Closing Mechanism on the rear door, as well as a Power Rear Window with controls up front, and on the key fob.

Audio System

The SR5 V6 comes equipped with a 6-speaker AM/FM Stereo With CD player, Mini Plug and MP3 player, while the Sport Package adds an In-Dash 6-Disc Changer and Steering Wheel Audio Controls. Or you can crank it up with a 10-speaker Premium JBL Audio System featuring an In-Dash 6-Disc CD player, Radio Data System (RDS), Mini Plug and MP3 Player, available on both Limited models.

Engine

4Runner V6

4Runner's spirited 236 HP 4L V6 Engine churns out a formidable 266 lb. ft. of torque, and comes equipped with Toyota's forward-thinking "Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence" Engine Technology. VVT-i uses valve-overlap to maximize power while increasing fuel efficiency and reducing emissions, providing this robust engine with an enviable Ultra Low Emissions (ULEV) rating.

4Runner V8

4Runner V8 knows no bounds. The perfect mix of brains and brawn, this 4.7L beast generates 260 HP and delivers a whopping 306 lb. ft. of ground-shaking torque to guide you through your adventures.

Engine Features

4Runner engines feature Sequential Multi-port Fuel Injection for quick acceleration and excellent fuel economy. Toyota's Direct Ignition system provides a strong, consistent spark, improving reliability.

Transmission

All 4Runners feature a slick Super Electronically Controlled 5-speed Automatic Transmission with Transmission Cooler that helps to deliver amazing smoothness wherever you want to go.

Towing Capacity

4Runner's factory installed towing hitch is rated for an impressive 2268 kg (5000 lbs.)

Handling

X-REAS Suspension

4Runner's rear X-REAS Suspension System (Sport V6, & Limited models) connects the front left shock absorber to the rear right and vice versa, creating an X shape. Control units then work to even out the damping force at opposite corners, aiding in a smooth balanced ride when turning, accelerating, stopping, or blazing a new trail through rough terrain.

Hill Start Assist

The Hill-Start Assist Control helps to minimize back slippage when stopped on an uphill grade, giving you time to plot your next move when headed for the top of the world.

Downhill Assist

4Runner's Downhill Assist Control is there to help when things get steep. At low speeds of 5-25km/h, just dial into L4 and press the DAC button. Active sensors monitor wheel speed and make the necessary adjustments to ease the descent.

Air Suspension

Available on the Limited V8, 4Runner's practical and convenient Rear Air Suspension can lift or lower the rear at the push of a button, depending on the load you are carrying and the type of terrain you're trying to tame.

Differential

4Runner's TORSEN LSD, or Torque-Sensing Limited Slip Differential automatically adjusts torque distribution between three ratios (40:60 rear, 29:71 rear, or 53:47 front) depending on driving conditions, providing stability and startability even when the going gets tough.

Safety

Driver's View

4Runner's beefy stature lets it sit high on its haunches, providing the best possible view. And the new Driver/Passenger Front Sliding Sunvisors make visibility even clearer.

Brakes

ABS brakes with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist are standard on all models. Sensors monitor speed, traction, vehicle load and the brake force applied by the driver, to help deliver braking power - especially in emergency braking situations.

Seatbelts

3-point Lap and Shoulder Belts help restrain all occupants. Driver and front passenger are further protected by Seatbelt Pretensioners and Force-limiters and Dual Front Airbags. And, now on all models, enjoy the added protection of Front Seat-Mounted Side Airbags, and Roll-Sensing Front and Rear Head/ Side Curtain Airbags (with added Off Switch). The perfect expression of Toyota's 'make things better' philosophy.

Child Seats

Anchor Brackets are standard equipment, making a child's seat easy to install so that the spirit of adventure can be shared by young and old alike.

VSC & A-TRAC

Vehicle Stability Control or VSC (now with Off Switch included) is combined with Active Traction Control (A-TRAC) as standard equipment to automatically control both brake force and torque going to each wheel. Under or oversteering is corrected, and wheel spin is minimized during acceleration and cornering, making every trail a happy one.
