Exterior

Headlights

Corolla excites the senses with every look and angle. From the sport-inspired Bumper, Grille and Lower Valance to the stylish Wheel Covers and Rear Taillamps. Definitely a looker.

Flat Bottom / Wheel Spats

Every line, angle, and surface - from Flat Bottom Panels to Rear Diffuser Panels, from Wheel Spats to Coloured Rear Spoiler - is designed to reduce drag and improve fuel economy. The result – an enviable coefficient of drag of just 0.26.

Liftback

Prius features a Liftback that not only adds to its aerodynamic shape, it makes loading and unloading an absolute breeze.

UV Windows

Prius keeps things cool with Green Tinted UV Glass on the sides and rear; and keeps things personal with Privacy Glass on the lower portion of the rear door windows.

Smart Entry

The key to Prius is no ordinary item. It's a transponder that signals the door to prepare for opening. Then, when the driver touches a sensor on the door handle, the change in electrical frequency causes the doors to open for business. With the Premium or Premium With Navigation Package, the key never needs to be removed from pocket or purse. Instead, the Smartkey system senses when the transponder is nearby and automatically unlocks the door. What could be easier than that?

Interior

With plenty of room for five, flexible seating and cargo arrangements, and technology that puts the driver in almost intuitive control, Prius transports you like no other vehicle on the road.

Smart Start

The same transponder that opens the door slips into a port to the right of the steering wheel. Then, with a push of the Power Button on the dash, Prius is up and running. The Premium and Premium With Navigation Packages feature Smart Start which enables ignition even with the transponder still safely tucked away in purse or pocket.

Multi-Information Display

Prius' Multi-Information Screen not only includes a display of the power flows from the engine and motor, but it's also home to Touch Screen Control for the Audio and Air Conditioning Systems as well as Trip Information including fuel consumption and energy recovery. With the Premium With Navigation Package, the screen enables the Navigation System.

Electric Inverter A/C System

Electronic Inverter Air Conditioning System. Simply put, Prius' AC is run off of the electric motor which means it functions even when the gas engine is stopped – for better fuel economy and cooler heads in hot weather.

60-40 Split-Fold Rear Seats

60/40 Split-Fold Rear Seats fold completely flat, turning Prius from sedan to "spaceship". Need more room? The front passenger seat also folds flat for even greater cargo-carrying capability.

Engine

Hybrid Synergy Drive™ (HSD) is Toyota's highly acclaimed hybrid powertrain. HSD seamlessly integrates the efforts of a gasoline engine and electric motor - delivering both greater power and greater fuel-efficiency. And Prius is a "full" hybrid. That is, it can operate in electric-mode only, engine-mode only, or a continuously variable combination of the two.

Gasoline Engine

Prius' 4-cylinder, 16 valve, dual overhead cam, VVT-i equipped engine delivers power and performance comparable to an intermediate sedan - all in a lighter and more fuel-efficient package.

Electric Motor

Like everything else on the Prius, the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor - tech talk for Electric Motor - delivers unprecedented power, performance and guilt-free green motoring.

The Battery

Prius' battery achieves the highest output per unit of weight than any battery in the world. Extremely compact, leaving more room for cargo space, the battery is constantly charged by the generator and the motor which means Prius never needs to be plugged in.

Power Control Unit

At the heart of Toyota's revolutionary hybrid system is a Power Control Unit that seamlessly integrates both sources of power - gas engine and electric motor - for optimum performance. One result is 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 10.1 seconds. That not only outstrips any hybrid on the road, but also is comparable to that of a 158 horsepower, 4-cylinder Camry.

Fuel Economy

At 4.0 litres per 100 kilometres in the city and 4.2 on the highway, Prius is one of the most economical vehicles on the road.

Emissions

Prius is one of the cleanest burning vehicles in the world. Good enough to rate as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle.

Handling

Step in. Sit back. Breathe easy. Let loose. Prius is meant to be driven, with its fluid shape, sport-tuned suspension and Drive-by-Wire technology. It's time to haul some ecologically friendly butt.

Drive by Wire

Prius replaces the mechanical throttle with an electronically controlled "By-Wire" system. Now, a press of the accelerator tells an on-board computer what speed you want to travel. The benefit? Reduced weight and more reliable responsiveness.

Electronic Shift Switch

With Prius, putting the vehicle into drive or reverse has never been easier. Simply "tap" the Joystick conveniently mounted on the dash and you're away to the races.

Regenerative Braking

Part of the reason that Prius never needs to be plugged in is that, when braking, the system turns the motor into a generator converting kinetic energy (heat and friction) into electric energy that is used to recharge the battery.

Tires

Prius now sports 16-inch All Season Radial Aluminum Alloy Wheels - one more reason Prius is so strong on straight-aways and sure-footed in the corners.

Hill Climb / Descent Control

Prius features Hill Climb and Descent Control. Hill Climb detects when the vehicle is climbing then helps correct acceleration accordingly for a smooth, effortless ascent. Descent Control uses the motor to prevent the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting off on a hill, and helps make acceleration smoother on steep downhill grades.

Safety

Prius gives new meaning to "safe and sound". From the impact-absorbing underbody to the multitude of features and advanced technologies such as an Anti-Theft System designed to keep trouble at bay, Prius delivers peace of mind by the car-full.

Brakes

Prius' brakes are a marvel in their own right, featuring standard ABS, Brake Assist, Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Traction Control. The Premium and Premium With Navigation Packages add Vehicle Stability Control to the mix.

Airbags

In the event of impact, Prius cushions the blow with standard Dual Stage Front, Front Seat Mounted Side, and Front Head/Side Airbags.

Seatbelts

Prius features 3-Point ELR/ALR Seatbelts in all five seating positions. Up front, driver and front passenger seatbelts also feature a Pre-Tensioner which, at the moment of impact, takes up any slack in the belt and helps hold you firmly in place. When seat belt load reaches a pre-determined level, a Force-Limiter reduces belt tension to decrease pressure on the upper torso.

Rear Lights

Prius employs LED Stop Lights with a unique "black out" feature. While driving, the bottom portion looks black to following drivers. Only when the brake pedal is pushed does it light up, clearly signaling intent.
