The All-New, All-Electric Toyota bZ4X: The Future Has Arrived

Toyota has released over 18 million hybrid vehicles onto the road since their first foray into alternative fuel vehicles in 1997. A market long dominated by the Prius, hybrid vehicles are about to welcome a new flag carrier to the market. Set to launch in mid-2022, the bZ4X has generated a lot of buzz around it since it was first teased this past summer.

Bob Carter, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) Executive Vice President of Sales recently spoke about the bZ4X, saying: “The Toyota bZ4X concept points to yet another option in our already robust electrified portfolio… At Toyota, we are a human-centered company – the customer is our CEO and will ultimately decide which technologies will carry us toward a carbon neutral future”

The bZ4X is pushing the envelope with what many think an electric vehicle can do. Sporting an estimated range of 250 miles (~400 Km) and built-in solar panels to capture additional energy to generate around 1000 extra miles worth of energy per year. Toyota Safety Sense will also come standard on all bZ4X trims, allowing you to feel confident behind the wheel and safe on the road. Some elements included are: adaptive cruise control, road sign assist, lane departure alert automatic high beams, and pre-crash safety system. These all work together to ensure that every part of your vehicle is safe and secure while you’re on the road.

The current release plan for the bZ4X is to introduce it into the Japanese and Chinese markets shortly. Following its introduction in the Asian market, worldwide sales should be available by mid-2022. However, there is currently no official rollout plan for North America just yet, but we are chomping at the bit to have the bZ4X in our dealership!

Most importantly, the bZ4X marks a shift in the hybrid and elecric vehicle market. Electric vehicles are quickly becoming more and more common, and especially with the introduction of the bZ4X, these vehicles are being integrated with innovative technologies inside and out. If this is a taste of what’s to come from the future of Toyota Vehicles, we can’t wait to see what else is in store in the very near future!
